Siftr ("we", "our", or "the extension") is a Chrome extension that helps users find, jump to, and annotate prompts in supported AI chat interfaces. This Privacy Policy explains what data Siftr processes and how that data is handled.

1. Information We Process

Siftr processes the following information to provide its core features:

• Text of your chat prompts/messages visible on supported pages (for indexing and navigation).
• Notes you create in the extension.
• Metadata needed for organization, such as timestamps and local chat identifiers.

2. How Data Is Stored

• Data is stored locally in your browser using Chrome extension storage (chrome.storage.local).
• Data remains on your device unless you manually export it.
• When you use the export feature, a markdown file is generated and downloaded locally on your device.

3. Data Sharing and Sale

Siftr does not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for advertising or marketing.

• No analytics SDKs are included.
• No advertising trackers are included.
• No remote server is used to store your notes or prompt index.

4. Permissions and Why They Are Needed

• storage: To save your notes and prompt index locally in your browser.
• activeTab and scripting: To run the extension interface on supported AI chat pages.
• host_permissions for supported domains: To detect and index chat prompts only on those sites.

5. Data Retention and Control

• You control your data directly in your browser.
• You can remove extension data by clearing extension storage or uninstalling the extension.
• You can export your data at any time using the extension’s export feature.

6. Security

We use Chrome's extension sandbox and local storage model to limit data exposure. However, no software environment can be guaranteed 100% secure.

7. Children's Privacy

Siftr is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any updates will be posted at the same URL where this policy is hosted.
